my *business baby that is.
Early on, I didn’t see value in creating a salon of my own. I was always content with helping someone else build their dream & coming along for the ride, even if that meant putting a little of me on the back burner. Taking the leap & building space for myself has been one of the best & most rewarding, joyous, exhausting & humbling things I’ve done in my life.
I’m 7 years deep in this & it feels so good to step back & see how far we’ve come since 2019.. I have crossed paths with so many new people & met incredible clients because of it. I’ve strengthened relationships with those who have been here before it, seen me through it all & have loved me just the same.
I didn’t open this space with the intention to grow it into a massive salon, or to build a huge team.. I just wanted a quiet space where I could connect with my clients, do my best work & not feel like I had to conform to a set of rules or fall into a line of hierarchy to be respected…. I never wanted to mass produce wearable art jewelry or create a capitalist coded making-machine. All the colorful goods that end up on my market table are just parts of my art project playtime that I get to share with my community. Fruits of exploring new mediums, things that interest me & by having FUN.
All the elements of B&B are little bits of what I truly love & what I want to share with others. It fully encompasses what growth looks like for me: a slow and steady harvest of things that bring me JOY.. & more so, how all these offerings have helped heal me in one way or another through sharing it with others.
I never was able to celebrate my 1 year anniversary in 2020, nor 5 years in 2024. This year I’m celebrating 7 years because it deserves to be celebrated & I’ll tell you my reason why - aside from 7 being lucky & one of my favorite numbers:
7 universally symbolizes wisdom, completeness, and a deep search for truth… for my angel number babes - 777 is often interpreted as a sign that you are on the right path & that divine guidance is supporting your life choices (& I do believe that wholeheartedly - hey Grams! )
I plan to celebrate the big 7 this year with my friends, colleagues, close family & some of my beloved clients who have been with me since the beginning. It feels good to be able to mark an accomplishment - especially one of your own doing… & one that has I know encouraged or inspired others to do the same for themselves. We all win when we move with purpose.
Lastly, I want to tell YOU that you have all the tools you need to create a life that feels good for you. It can look however you want & be whatever you want it to be. You don’t have to girl boss, you don’t have to influence… you can actually just do what you’re good at & let those who see the spark in you come naturally… also, a little bit of unhinged positivity & “things work out for me because there’s no other way” mentality doesn’t hurt either
Authenticity to yourself is one of the highest forms of currency & can bring you so much more than trying to fit yourself into a little box. You are multi-faced & you can make your own kind of magic. Never forget that.
