permission to take up space.
In my line of work, I talk to a lot of people. Whether behind the chair, or out in the world, I get to have meaningful conversations with people from all walks of life - & I see it as one of the perks.
I always ask a few standard questions when I’m trying to get to know someone, especially clients. The top of the list is always: when’s your birthday? (so I can figure out their sun sign) …do you have any siblings, any pets, what do you do for work? Maybe I’ll learn about a couple of hobbies, or maybe a few shows they are binging on Netflix.. but what’s funny to me is this: people tend to stop defining themselves when they begin to talk about their job - opting to talk about themselves in short form. They will share something quick, digestible, something that “makes sense”...Underwriter, Teacher, Admin Assistant, “Boy Mom” ..it’s almost like you don’t want to inconvenience anyone by making their brain work harder than it has to - or this weird idea that we can only BE one thing. Well I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to be - & you most likely aren’t.
You can be multifaceted; complex. You can be a work in progress, you can always learn something new or rediscover it your love for something you enjoyed the past. There really is no *box* you have to fit into, or check off for that matter. You don’t have to make yourself small, you don’t have to be packaged up all cute with a bow - your job doesn’t have to define who you are - nor do your circumstances. You are unlimited & it’s okay to act like it. ✨
Give yourself permission to take up space. Do the things you love, seek out the experiences that set your soul on fire… or set it free.
You can change & grow and reinvent yourself as many times as you need to reach your favorite version of yourself. There are actually are NO RULES when it comes to creating yourself & the way you live your life is for you to figure out. Don’t be scared to dig deeper & uncover all of the parts of you. You are, and will always be, your most bountiful harvest.
